I STILL can't find the right drag radials! (Long, but please help.)

For rhe last 2 or 3 weeks, I've been looking at BFG Comp T/A Drag Radials, Nitto 555R Drags, Mickey Thomsons, (even Hoosier) or whatever to put on my 15x8" Weld Wheels and no one has a simple size like 255/60/15 (or even 245/50/15, 245/60/15).

BFG only have 235/60/15 (should I put these on my rims?) or it jumps to 275/50/15. Nitto only got 2 sizes for 15" wheels, screw them.

Now M/Ts got some, but I'm not sure about them. The one I was looking at was the street series Sportsman Pro 26x10.5x15 (Nylon, black, tubetype, 8/32 tread depth).
That's the smallest size for the 15" rim and I think that is about an inch and a half too wide for the 8" wide rim. I'm not sure though.

What I need is a soft street legal tire (this is the only car I got) that will get me much better traction on the track than a regular street tire. Those tires are made of drag slick compound so I think it'll work. But, is it the same as drag radials like the ones from BFG and Nitto? (Probably not) Sounds like it's just a street tire made with a soft drag compound rubber.

I met a guy at the track who was running those but looked skinnier than 10.5. Anyway, he was hooking really well with those tires and if I can't get the right size drag radial, I'll just get those from M/T. This is frustrating.

Shouldn't be so difficult!!! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/mad.gif

I don't like asking people for help until I've tried researching a problem for myself first. I have and I need help. Sorry for the length and details, but any and all help is very much appreciated.

BTW, the best time I could get on my street tires w/ MUCH spinning and bad engine tuning was:

60 ft ---------- 2.137
330 ft --------- 5.905
1/8 mile ------- 9.063 @ 77.12 mph
1/4 mile ------- 14.142 @ 96.18 mph

60 ft ---------- 2.180
330 ft --------- 5.964
1/8 mile ------- 9.109 @ 77.63 mph
1/4 mile ------- 14.147 @ 97.06 mph

Note: initial timing at 20*

I should be in the high 13s. I need help. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif

Why don't you use the 275/50/15 BFG tire? I use the 60 series version of this size tire on my 15x8 Welds just fine.

I thought about those, but they are recommended for 8.5" rims and above. I don't want much tire bulge. I got to drive my car everywhere I go--it's my only car and I don't want unnecessary tire wear (on side walls), esp on 15,000 mile drag radials.

Also, I'm not sure what type of clearance I would get with 275s. Also, I love the look of the 255/60/15s on my car. I can't believe those ******* drag tire manufacturers won't be more diverse in their sizes. So what, is the 15x8" rim so uncommon that there is a lack of tire sizes (compared to other wheels).

exgmguy, do you have a photo of your tires on your wheels? If you could post it or send it to me via email, I would greatly appreciate it.

How much tire bulge? When you say 60 series, do you mean 275/60/15? So you say they work out well on yours?
