Need advice

I just bought a 1992 mustnag gt hatchback 5 speed. I thas koni shocks and stut tower braces already one it. I want to make it fast for drag racing on the streets, and keep it street legal. what do you think i should do first?

You may get a better response (or more of them) in the Windsor forum.

But, my advice would be to do the following:

1) Gears. Go with 3.55's or 3.73's
2) Underdrive pulleys (March Performance)
3) If 5 spd., then get a quality shifter (Pro 5.0, Hurst, etc)
4) Ditch the panel filter and put in a K&N filter.
5) Complete tune-up --> plugs, wires, cap & rotor, oil change (synthetics maybe?)
6) Bump the timing to 13 or 14* BTDC.

There are a ton more ideas, but I'll step aside now and let other members help you out.

Good luck, E

302 LX Eric has it right.
Make sure the air silencer is out and the car is in good tune. Best bang for the buck is the gears and pulleys and it's a good idea to go with an aftermarket shifter like the Pro 5.0, Hurst, B&M or Steeda Tri-Ax. The next best thing you can do is decide where you want to go with your car, for instance; street, street/strip, full on drag racer, road racer etc. Do you want a quick, but very streetable car, do you want to stay natuarlly aspirated, go supercharged, turbo or nitrous? If you don't have a plan you could end up buying and replacing the same parts several times. Read this board in the Windsor forum and search for topics that you have questions about. About 99.9% of the time several people have asked the same questions you have. Have a blast my man, I hope you know what your getting yourself into! http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif

If your interested in street drag racing, I would lose the strut tower brace. You dont need it for drag racing, it adds weight to your front end, it makes the motor harder to work on, and pulling it off is FREE!
