Going to the track this Saturday

I will be heading out to the strip this Saturday if any of you local Detroit guys want to come along.

I installed a drag launch kit and some 90/10's that I really want to try out, not to mention get this pig tuned in right.

Hey exgmguy, give us an update on your car. I've lost track. All I can remember is it's sick fast and has N2O or S/C. Give us an update.

I had an S-trim, but sold it before ever installing it. I run a 100 horse dry shot of N2O. I have a stock block 302, E-303, TFS heads, GT-40 intake, headers/exhaust, 3.73's, drag launch kit, 90/10's, 275/60 drag radials on Welds etc....

I went 12.80 @ 111 on motor, and 12.0 @ 122 on spray. I have not gone since the drag radials and suspension stuff. Finally I should hit an 11!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew it was quick. 11's, Oh-my-gosh. I'm impressed. let us know the actual numbers at the track.

How are the 90/10s as far as streetability goes? Does your car sit lower with the drag launch kit? If so, is one side lower than the other?

I have had my front swaybar off for a couple years now with no problems, and I am sure that will be the case with the 90/10's as well. They drive just fine to me. except that I have half the wheelspin, and the front comes up a lot when I floor it in 1st or 2nd.

Of course I can't take tight curves at 60 mph like my friends stock lowered coupe, but the ride is anything but dangerous.

Jeff, you should get Carl out there on Saturday!

Red514LX 04-13-2001 08:20 PM

Rob,

I'd like to go to the dragstrip but I've got 4 20-page papers do in 6 days!! I know Carl is super-busy w/ school now too -- he's taking twice the amount of credit hours I am!!

Nevertheless, we'll probably be in touch after a few weeks. I imagine Carl will want to get to the dragstrip ASAP as he's got some new additions to his car to test out hehehe http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif

****** rob what the hell did you run

exgmguy 04-15-2001 07:05 PM

I ran horrible. The track was prepped for sh!t. The mega headwind did not help either.

On motor I went a best of 13.0 @ 110.

100 shot was 12.2 @ 120.

My 60 foots ranges from 2.40's to a best of 2.15 on the spray run. Needless to say, I was pissed. Especially since last season I went quicker on regular radials and a totally stock suspension. If you think that was bad, there was a Vobra there running mid-low 14's @ 118 mph!!!!!!

I'll be using a different track from now on. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

From what I hear Ubly is one of the stickiest tracks around these days. Milan isn't that great for traction either. I will probably be going to Ubly soon.

exgmguy 04-16-2001 03:31 PM

Ubly's opening day is this Saturday. That track is great. Let me know when you go and i'll be there.

Ubly?? Wha ***??
lol
where's that at, persactly?
i've never even heard of it. but then again that's probably no surprise since i'm from Indiana, right? http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

It is in the thumb of MI. If you have ever heard of Bad Axe, it is about 10 miles from there I believe. If you don't know where that is then it is about 30 miles south of Port Austin, Caseville.

If you don't know where any of these places are, it is about 85 miles north of Detroit. The track is a small run down asphalt strip in the corn fields, but it was just re-surfaced and is one of the stickiest tracks in MI.

I watched Lidio Iacobelli (sp?) of Alternative run his green notch with 4V 4.6, Vortech combo run real close to his fastest E.T. he ever ran with it. Bone stock 4.6 4V with lots of boost, it ran a 9.68, and his fastest was a 9.63 at some other track out of state.
