I was just watching the 1985 Busch 500 at Bristol on ESPN Classic, and they pointed out that the #77 car (didn't catch the name of the driver) was so low budget that he installed a set of wiper blades and working lights, and drove his car to the track! That just blows my mind. Not only could he not afford a back-up car on the transporter, he couldn't afford a transporter! Amazing.
