well my stang doesn't have this problem as i am restoring it and there isn't any radio yet!
i can tell you though that my dads old '83 grand marquis has exactly the same problem. if you leave the lights or the radio on for more than say 10-15 minutes, the car won't even turn over. sorry i can't help ya , but at least you arn't the only one!
