DemonGT,

If you volt gauge is going above 14.5V somethings wrong. The regulator is probably toast. I mention 100amps @ idle, this is with a 700 watt stereo, markVII fan (45amps), lights on, and the heater on. My volt meter dropped from 14.2V to 13.5V.

Before I got the fan and while I still had the stock alternator it would idle at 13.5V (no underdrives) and drop to 12V when I turned everything on. 12V definetly isn't enough potential (voltage) to charge a car battery. I can't believe ford put a 65amp alternator on such a modern car. Anyway, I wouldn't worry about frying anything as long as you install a larger charging cable and an inline fuse.
