Mustangbelle306:
I've seen that idiotic Oxygen Network commercial.
You're right, it attempts to appeal to the foolish women who actually believe that rejecting delicacy or softness is tantamount to 'empowerment'.
As I see it, that feminist bull is telling women that you have to be masculine to be 'strong' and independent. So, ladies, you reject your femininity to gain what?
Assistant VP of Auto Loans at the bank?
You want to look like Janet Reno? Really?
This old wheeze that women have to be 'like men' (including having serial lovers) to be 'empowered' is nuts, in my male opinion. Men don't want more 'men in dresses' to compete with, life is tough enough. We prefer women to embrace their feminine attributes, not reject them.
Sure, we want you to be competent and smart, as well as fun, but we also want you to be what God made you; Female. The opposite of us. Soft, warm, tender and sweet. Sexy, sure, sometimes. Capable, naturally. No one really wants a 'clinging vine'.
But mostly, just be the women you are. Not 'Ho's, not nuns, not dykes, just women. Drive us nuts but don't abandon your identity in some misguided attempt to be 'empowered'. We adore you, individually and admire you, as a whole. Don't throw that away. Ignore feminist nonsense.
I hope the Oxygen Network (and Oprah Winfrey) tank.
