Gearhead999; It has about 10' hg. @ idle. I've got a 6.5 power valve in it. The jetting is 64 and 68.
The car smokes black at idle and i have the idle screws turned out only about a half turn each. It has the four corner idle adjustment. The p.v. isn't contributing as I've used different vacuum gauges and power valves.
As for the jetting, if I go any smaller, I pick up hesitation under load, yet the plugs are still black. I'm running hotter plugs.
Just for the hell of it, I look up the Barry Grant web site. The tell you that your new carb may run rich, and you may have to drill holes in the throttle plates to give it some air. I'm not drilling a new carb. Demon claims this carb outflows a 4150 holley 750. So why do they advertise it as a 650.
I run a Holley 4150 750 race carb on my BB Mopar for max. vol. eff. Sounds a bit large for a 289 (actually 298). I will try it out.
