This probably isn't what you want to do. I used to have a POS chysler LeBaron a few years ago. I lost the only key I had for it. So I had a mechanic friend pop the lock cylinder out and I would start the car with a flathead screwdriver. I didn't have the money at the time to fix it.
When I would leave the car I would pop the hood and take the coil wire with me. What you said made me think about that, I thought I would share.
