This may get me hung, but if you have a genuine 67 289 hi po I would pull it out keep is separate or sell it outright to someone looking for a restoration project. Then I would build a 302, 347, or 351 for the power you want with a few more modern parts. I think the old hi po is great, but worth too much to make it worth modifying and possibly destroying.
Oh, and as for changing your cam and your lobe separation angle, yes it will mess up your current timing.
