I think that they started using that cable in like 90 or 91. I did just the opposite, pulled the AOD in favor of aT-5 and my car didn't have this cable.

I'm pretty sure you won't need to worry about that cable.

I would actually think that a good external tranny cooler that you mount where theres good airflow will be sufficient until you get a new radiator. But I would sure take it easy on it till then
