ok since i haven't messed with pipe threads in a little while, i kinda got myself and possibly you confused

When I was in my senior year of highschool (2000) I was accepted in a training program job at Eli Lilly and Co as a machinist.

When I was turning pipe threads on the lathe I was tought to get it close enough to where the fitting would go on 2.5 turns BY HAND, and then tighten it the rest of the way. sorry for the confusion, i wasnt thinking right and therefore told you the wrong information.

So it should get hand tight a little over 2 turns, then you can wrench it.

sorry again
