One guy at the old job used to. He had a 72ish Chevelle and was always saying "found on road dead" Ford sucks, etc etc. He never did win a race with that Chevelle against the LX. Even then, he was always talking smack. Every day. Day in and dayout.
Then, one day, he said "the car I'm building will destroy your 5.0". I have heard this one before, so I said drive it in and then we will talk.
About 3 months later he showed up with a 69 fastback with a rebuilt 351. He and a group of guys were talking smack again about how slow the 5.0 was. Time to talk.
The only thing I said to him was "If you can't beat em, join em".
The look on his face was priceless.
Turns out he traded the 'running fine' Chevy for the Mustang (even though the Mustang didn't run). He had to drive his parents car while he fixed up the Stang.
