Matching the TB size to any motor is always a good idea. In one dyno test performed by 5.0 Magazine, they had a mildly modified 302 (heads, intake, cam) test mule. I believe the 65 mm was the best. However, it should be noted that in some cases, a larger TB provided higher peak HP, but with loses across the lower to middle power band.
On a near stock motor, stick with the factory TB.
