FWIW, I was told that more aggressive gears provide better city mpg, all else being equal. The steeper gears are supposed to promote higher vacuum levels during city driving, which equates to better mpg.

One of these days, I will put in those 3.55s I've had sitting in my garage for the past 7 years .
