The Heddman shorty step-tubes are 1 1/2"- 1 5/8". Probably my choice for a street car. I now have Bassani long tubes stepped with a 1 5/8"- 1 3/4" configuration. Relating to the issue of torque (too big or too small of tube diameter affects this), I previously had the bigger 1 3/4"- 1 7/8" Bassanis. My old headers(which I still have and will take $300 for if anyone is interested) were just plain too big for my current combo, i.e. no torque under 3000 rpm on the street sucks...

To bring my rambling to a close, I believe in staying with a smaller tube diameter to keep torque up, which is critical on a street driven car. Factor in a 100 shot and I still feel the same. Spray a 150 shot or more, or crank out some serious RPMs on top of that and the bigger tubes are necessary. Look at my dyno reading in the users ride section for a good example...

It basically comes down to the old saying, "different strokes for different folks." I'm no genius, that's for sure!
