2004 Mustang impressions
Hmmmmmm.
My first impression is that I like it - but it needs work.
The roofline is way out of proportion with the body as are the wheels (too big). Too much rice influence there. The front and sides are good - but need tightening. There can be such a thing as too much retro.
It looks a lot like a 'concept car' version of a 1968 Mustang. That isn't bad, but Ford needs to get a little more creative and not try to lean quite so heavily on the early Mustangs, then throw a few 21st century ricer cues on it and consider it having the best of both worlds.
I just don't see this particular version Mustang being a 'classic' in 20 years, as it looks too '60's-based (been there, done that) with touches that'll soon be outdated when the ricer fad finally passes.
It's not a bad 'Stang but I think Ford can do better with the resources they have available and the market position that Mustang occupies.
