well, I agree with some of what your saying. Yes, teams havent been able to buy the cup, but Detroit certainly seems to be trying. Along with the rangers. The rangers have failed miserably. The wings have been successful for many years now, and were a good team before they started signing big money free agents.

However, this doesnt take away from the fact that they have a huge payroll and can aquire a lot of players that other teams cant afford to pay, Hasek being a good example.

A lot of people tend to root for the team that can get it done with a lower payroll, and less big name stars. Im not trying to take anything away from the wings. they are a great team, and have great coaching and management.

But you cant deny they have large dollars and pay a lot of "veterans" large money that other teams dont have the luxery of doing. Does this mean they will win the cup automatically? Of course not, but it certainly isnt going to hurt thier chances.
