Just to add some info. Disconnect your battery!! No need for any stray sparks near gas tank. You should empty the tank, but you can lower it by yourself by using a floor jack with a piece of plywood under the tank. As you loosen the retaining straps, lower your jack. The toughest part I remember was pulling the filler tube out of the side of the tank. I would replace the clips on the fuel lines going into the tank. My pump didn't come with these clips, but any decent auto parts store should have them. Look in the HELP section (you know those little parts in the red packages). Unless you trust your Ford Dealer, DON'T go to a dealer for these clips. I waited 4 days for the wrong (insert your favorite explitive here) clips. Luckily, the Car Parts store down the road from my house had them sitting on a shelf. Not sure why the pumps are burning out so fast. What brand pump did you buy? Oh, replace your fuel filter while your down there. It only takes about 2 minutes and makes a big difference.
