That stuff started with that stupid ricer movie. Double clutching needs to be used only for a trans with no synchonizers (or bad ones) like are used in the big rigs. The procedure is to pull out of the current gear with the clutch in, stop the shifter in neutral, let out the clutch, rev the motor, then move to the next gear. It really is an outdated procedure. The big rig drivers shift without using the clutch at all once they are rolling. Years ago when I was driving, I got where I could upshift or downshift through all 13 gears of a road-ranger without using the clutch. Only time I'd double clutch is if I missed a gear. Incidentally, you can do the same thing with any syncro transmission, although I wouldn't advise it. John.
