I was trying to think of the term "vapor lock", but had a brain freeze. That was why I suggested an electric pump by the tank. If the problem comes back, try that. Vapor lock occurs in a low pressure area (pump is pulling from the engine to the tank, creating a low pressure between the pump and the tank). Installing a pump by the tank would create high pressure in the lines, virtually eliminating the possibility of vapor lock.
