Not sure if I follow what the problem is. Are you talking about it only reving to 3500 or so before shifting? On your old AOD, are you saying that it would sometimes hold the gear up to 5000 before shifting?
If the problem is the tranny shifting too early, try adjusting your TV linkage. Also, although I don't know much about the TCI tranny, it seems like it should come with some sort of a shift kit installed which would allow the tranny to hold gears longer and allow them to hit harder. Have you tried manually shifting?
As far as the acceleration....do you have an aftermarket torque converter? If so, what's the stall speed. Also, what are your mods?
