I installed one of ARP oil pump shafts with my HV FMS oil pump and stock distributor.
I endend up grining the distributor end down until it would fit. Fortunately the oil pan and intake manifold were off because the engine was out of the car.
Just make sure that there is no bind in the oil pump and distributor when you tighten everything up. You don't wan't to fry your pump like that.
I have heard similar thinkg from other late model guys using the shaft. I am guessing it is because of distributor differences with the roller distributor.
