I am in the middle of this switch. I started the switch because I came across a good, clean, strong, 5.0L engine (merc) that I could get almost free (Total final cost $50).

To make this safe and work you are going to have to swap to front disk brakes, change the trany, and unless you want five lug wheels on the front and fours on the back you will need to do some swap out on the rear axel.

I have swapped out the front spindles and the entire rear axel. My donor car (non-engine) was a V8 maveric. Every thing goes in quite well. I did opt to use bushings on the lower tie rod ends rather than replace the front end. I am making a daily driver which will not be driven real hard so I was OK with this.

I am still in the process of working out how to keep the fuel injection on the 5.0 without laying out a lot of money. It is fun to do this change but it does take some time and work. It could also take a great deal of money if you aren't careful.

I also have yet to find the 5spd trany that I want. When I'm done it will be a fun machine.
