Check the Mass air.
Had a '93 that we were working on, and it wouldn't get out of it's own way. It would hit 4000 RPM and just bog down. Had terrible pick up, wouldn't get out of it's own way.
Felt like it was running at about 100HP.
Unplugged the MAF, and it ran in limp mode, but was stronger.
Replaced it with another MAF from teh shop, and it tore like hell.
