Using 289 heads
Discovered that I own a set of 289 heads. I bought a car 3 years ago at an auction just for the Cragar wheels. The car was a 1972 Comet 2 door. I was told it had a 302 in it but after I checked the numbers it turned out to be a 289. The car ran fine when I parked it 3 years ago so I pulled the heads and got them checked at the local engine rebuilder. They need valves of course but they are free of cracks and they are not even slightly warped.
So now what, what should I do. I know that they have smaller chambers which means more compression I know if I use they I should get them ported and polished. Do you guys think its worth it or should I just forget it and save for after market heads.
Anyone out there using or knows of anyone using 289 heads?
