Engine condition
I would say it is based on the condition of the engine.
You have to be really careful with high performance parts period.
They may break on the 100th pass they may break on the the 1st pass,if your 100k engine is in good condition and you plan on going with a mild setup and you keep it tuned properly,it might last another 100k.
Just have a plan like Unit and Wood said.If you do not it is going to drive you up a wall when you start hearing about this part and that part,and it did this,and it did that.
Get to the track and meet and talk to the guys that are going fast,they will usually tell you their ups,and their downs with their combos.
Just try to avoid the newest wonder gadget out there,unless you see it at the track,the track is the real world,not a magazine,not a dyno room,flow bench,but a dragstrip is where you find the fast guys.
