research research and then some more research
i've taken to the habit of keeping an eye out for who's using what at the track.........luckily i live in an area where racing is pretty popular ,most of the work i need done can be done localy
at the local dragstrip ,you can find an infinit amount of info on what parts and what combo's work .........seems that there is alot of hype in the bolt on industry ie; you need this or if you get that it won't work with out this ........i look at what times peaple are putting down with what combos and who's breaking what from using what .......
as for engine building and machine shops ........sprint cars ....luckily i live in an area where sprint car racing is pretty popular ,........although the conditions that i run my car are alot different then a sprint car moter ,seems that the sprint car guy's usually have a good idea what machine shops got it together.........spint cars run extremly high hp n/a moters under pretty harsh conditions ,most of the guy's who have been at it a while have a pretty good grasp on building strong short blocks at low costs ,building strong valve train combos, and what wearable parts hold up to manufacturer claims
and as alway's..... like old school said .....if it sounds to good to be true ,it usually is
