I probably wouldn't go with 4.10's just because I like to cross the line in 4th gear, not 5th which can usually be done with 3.55's and 3.73's and around 5-6,000 rpm. I don't think 5th is strong enough to race with and it is such a high ratio that you will lose a little shifting from forth to fifth. I am not positive though, maybe some guys out there running 4.10's and a stock 5-speed can help us out here. Anyone?

As far as rearend whine goes, just because it doesn't whine when it is not under load doesn't mean it isn't whining when under load, it just depends how it is set up. Some whine when coasting but not under load. The only way to really tell is to pull the back cover and check backlash with a dial indicator, should be around .09 to .12 I believe.
