But no, they don't have a VIN on the rear, tranny, and engine. They just have the part numbers stamped on to those, along with about every other part on the car.

C9XX XXXX....there's usually a number similar to that stamped on to about every part on a '69 Mustang....For a '67 it would be C7XX XXXX or whatever.....in '70 it's D0...... The letter represents the decade and the number represents which year. My engine is D1 ('71) and my tranny is a C6 ('66, not a C-6 tranny, it's a C-4
