what year car is this? how many miles? what kind of shape? i had a similar problem, which got worse. i pulled off the steering wheel covering there and figured out that the wire harness the ignition plugs into was actually coming loose and causing a weak connection. it had got to a point where i could slightly turn the key forward while running (without engaging the starter) and the window would roll up or down, but you had to find that 'right spot'. it got to the point where the car would die when turning corners and hit bumps, so despite the 100* temps i went to work. i thought it was the ignition switch but while in there i realized it was that wire harness. (someone's gonna smack me) i used super glue

is this your problem? probably not,,, but i wanted to mention it. might want to check your fuse box as well.
