An electric fan mounts on the radiator via a shroud. You get more power from the motor (via less accesory drag) and better cooling, becaus the fan is close, it pulls air better.(his 928 may even have one)
The early cars are still around because they are well built. People love them, and they are strong enough to still be run hard if properly maintained.
The 944 was a fun car. Still haven't found anything that handles like it. Was a bear to work on, and parts were expensive. I still miss it sometime though.
If you can wait for a good motor, do so. Finding one fast and cheaper doesn't always work out, but you know that by now.
