I'm sure Earle has a plan, but if it were me, I would put the shroud in, leave the mechanical fan, and set up a pusher fan for emergencies. That way you don't have to rely on your electrical system to keep your engine cool normally, but it's there if you need it.
Either way, I'm sure you'll be fine.
