Find out what it says in your lease. It probably says no MAJOR repairs. Like someone already said, you have a right to maintain your vehicle. Nothing you are doing will cause a spill.
When we were renting our town house, we had the same sort of restriction. I pulled my engine and installed the new engine.
Nothing major, right? I just made sure that when we moved out that I scrubbed the garage floor until it was cleaner than when we moved in.
