1hot5.0 -- this is an '83 GL, not a '93 GT.

I didn't use compressed air to clean anything. This might be the problem because I did do some scraping to get the old gaskets off. I'll check that soon -- I'll have to take it to work and use the compressor there. Does it sound like something is clogged? Why can I get it to idle only when it floods over the top?

The carb I have on the car is an 1850-3. The carb I got the metering plate and electric choke was a 9834-2. I used its primary float bowl, too because the pump shot on the 1850-3 was missing its check ball retainer. Now it's using the orange plug style, which works much better. Both are 600's and both metering plates look exactly the same, with idle screws on both sides.

The block gasket I used was correct. I got trick kit #37-119 and threw it in there.

I'm using a 3.5 power valve to make sure it isn't opening @ idle and the jets are #60's. Those are too rich, but I'm tuning that soon. I have a set of #55's waiting for it, after I can get it to idle.

Thanks for the help thus far.
