Platinum is of a higher resistance than copper. Thus you can get a less powerful spark, although platinum is a catalyst, so it could possible it could make up for some of that.

Also why spend the extra money and let your plugs stay in until they are nearly impossible to get back out without stripping, especially in aluminum headed cars?
