Here's a thought on the cluchless shifting being more difficult w/ a synchroed trans.
With a synchroless trans, only the gears themselves are required to 'line up' before reaching the next gear. They probably use angle cut gears.
With synchros, not only the gears are required to line up properly to reach the next gear, but all the teeth/gears of the sychro must line up as well. Making it much more difficult to achieve a straight line.
Then again, I could be wrong.........
