I hooked the vacuum guage up and I am getting a reading of 9"-10". The motor doesnt exactly run perfectly smooth. Its got a bigger cam in it. From what I've been seeing on older posts, this seems to be low readings at idle. I held the motor at 2,000 rpms and the needle stayed right at 17". I have 10.5:1 pistons with 66 289 hi po heads...I guess they have smaller chambers, so I do have higher compression than a stock car. I didnt do any of the motor...the guy I bought it from built everything.
It doesnt have the smog pump. I've followed all the vacuum lines to the best of my knowledge to look for leaks but havent found any. Is there any way using the guage that I could find where a leak could be coming from?
