Did you have the clutch cable adjusted up to where t/o bearing was riding the pressure-plate is what I meant... that's not good. It sounded that way when you stated it was adjusted as far as it'll go, but it would fall off the quadrant, right? Did you inspect the quadrant itself, it's fine?
I'd get in on the GP at the Corral if I were you, I've never tried 'em but everyone rants about how good they are...
and anyone who's ever run the stock bearing retainer on the T5 has had problems with 'em sooner or later. The steel retainer and a new t/o bearing are a good idea if you're going to have it apart.
