My point was that we are talking about how disadvantaged the 96-98's are compared to the 99's in stock form. Once you start modifing that reasoning pretty much goes out the back door. The fastest 2V NA car out there is a 96 right now, granted with SVO heads and such but still a 96. As for the looking better part that is nothing more than opinion.  I personally don't care for the 94-98 bodystyle but that's just me. I don't see how anyone could call this ugly:
300RWHP is no where good enough for me but I'm at the brink of pulling my car off the street. It's no longer fun to be under the constant threat of being arrested or having to deal with inexperienced ricers trying to drag race in rush hour traffic. My fun is at the track and that is what I want to concentrate on. During the winter I fully expect to be pushing very close to if not slightly over 300RWHP NA and with that into the 11's. Once I've hit that goal a full cage is going in for preparation for the NX kit sitting in my garage.
