Using the proper formula this time (

), I get the following:
4 (bore) (which is 2" radius squared) x 3.98 (stroke) x Pi x 6 (cylinders) = 300.0849303 cu. in.
300.0849303 cu. in. = 4.92 Litres, not quite 5.0 litres, but I'll let it slide this time.
What's interesting is that a true 302 = 4.95 litres, while the actual calculation comes to 301.5928947 = 4.94 litres. I guess Ford just decided to round up and make it a nice 5.0.
