Eventually I got pulled over by a motorcycle cop (they never give you warnings!) who sited me for not having cats. It was just a fine, instead of a fix it ticket, so I could have just left it. But I didn't want to worry about getting pulled over anymore (at least not for noise) so I changed back to the tailpipes. I see you are in Salem, so I don't beleive you have strict smog laws (if any??), so the noise factor may not be of importance to you. I'd stick with the tailpipes though. Being loud doesn't make you faster. Plus you don't want to lose that low end torque.
no it's not a myth on a basically stock car you will loose alot of torque your car has quite a bit done to it so you didn't notice as much but on a pretty stock car it is a noticeable difference I have built over 25 stangs for street and strip duty trust me on this one I know from experience.
