No, it really won't lose low end. The tailpipes are not the restrictive part of the exhaust system. The restriction is in the H-pipe. Equal length shorties, or off road h-pipes will cost torque because they will significantly reduce backpressure, or create an improper tuner effect on a stock/near stock car.

The mufflers and tailpipes have little to do with restriction, which is why swapping them to a race setup on a stock engine might get you 5 peak hp, and 10hp at very high rpms where the 5.0 isn't racing at anyway.

By the way stevestrum, if you don't have the rest of the exhaust mods like the other car, they will not sound the same. If you do, you'll already lost the backpressure. Losing backpressure generally robs low end, not helps it.
