Try driving with your center console off for awhile. Then put your hand on the area just below the e-brake. Caution, you may want to remove hand quickly cause yes it's hot you bast*** guy. (inside joke)

Dude, you have a v-8 now, not a 4-cyl, so its gonna be 2x as hot. Don't worry about it, but I would put that dust cover back on (you shouldnt have cut it off) and it might be allot cooler.

P.S. That B&M is sitting at my house here so I may have a suprise when I come back you bridbrain.
