Isn't that what a brand new T-5 did from the factory - those sure are noisy damn transmissions-, if i were you i'd probably just buy a used T-5 since you say you're going to sell it anyway. What condition is your clutch cable in? The stock cables stretch all to hell when they get older and it's harder to engage gears....made 200% difference in feel replacing my old clutch cable with an adjustable clutch quadrant/cable.

Since this is your daily driver it sounds like you might as well replace the trans when it's convenient rather than when it's necessary.
