Yes and no. the ES300 is V6 FWD. where as the IS300, SC300 and GS300 are all I-6 (2jzge) rwd.
THe SC300 automatic (all Years) stock the best time i ahve seen was 15.2 as far as the 5spd (1992-1997) the best actual time ive seen was a 14.8 but yea on a consistant basis the SC300 5spd is a low 15 car. the GS300 only came in auto but its a mid to high 15. As far as the SC400, its main problem was weight (3700lbs rounded up) but with the 5spd automatic it could haul its overweight butt to mid 14's consistantly. not fast but pretty good.
I admit that the US nameplate of Lexus (which doesnt exist anywhere else) is a luxury moniker that likes to play in the Sport arena a bit with its 300 cars. SC300 and IS300 now which were/are avail with 5spds.
The Toyota Soarer 3.0L (SC300) cam in japan the same way it came in the US with the obvious differences, but some dealerships offered the 2jzgte as an upgrade though them. THe fastest factory version of the Toyota Soarer is of course the only one we didnt get. the Soarer 2.5GT-T, powered by the 1jzgte making a rated 280hp (310 actual) the Main reason for not bringing it over was fear of taking away sales from the Supra TT. Mainly because the Soarer 2.5GT-T in japan was the equivalent to 10 grand Less than the Supra TT (Currency rate in USD was $27,000 base for the Soarer 2.5GT-T) and the Soarer was just as fast.
