Actually that would make quite a difference. A 7 tooth drive gear versus the 8 tooth drive gear means you're getting 12.5% worse mileage on paper than you really are. This puts you close to 17 mpg if you do the correction.
I get about 21 mpg city and 24 mpg highway on average, but my car seems to be a bit of a freak for mileage. I think the 3.73's help out a lot around town being able to get into 5th gear fast. The new motor should quickly destroy that
