I have been researching this. You want a turbo for a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. The manual tranny T-birds had the 60/63 turbo's, while the AOD T-birds had the 60/48. Years you need to look for these on I believe is 83-86. I don't know why the 87 won't work, but this is just what I have been told.

Here's some good links for you:
http://www.toohighpsi.com/ - Tons of killer info.
http://www.turbomustangs.com/ - Site dedicated to turbo Mustangs with a cool message forum.
Junkyard turbo mailing list - More info than you will ever need.
http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/20.shtml - Explaination on how a turbo works, and a cool little program to pick your turbo based on engine size, rpm, etc.
http://www.chassisshop.com/ - These guys sell "doughnuts" which are doughnut shaped pieces of exhaust tubing varying in diameter and radius so you can build your own exhaust and intake tubing.

Good luck!
