My 2nd Pinto was a '78 with a 2300/2bbl/4 speed, and after working the head (milled, ported, cam, etc), it actually beat
stock V8 Novas and Chevelles all day long. It was my pizza delivery vehicle, and it shocked a lot of people. The 2300 is a good engine.
FWIW, my 3rd Pinto had a 2000 in it, and when I was done, it was even faster than the 2300. Paid $15 for the car, and invested $300 total.
Ahhhh, the memories.
Take care,
