For me the chassis certification was step one. The NHRA official came out to the house, and went through all the requirements. Everything in the car was exposed so he could check all the hard points on the cage, 5 point harness, seat location, head clearance and the rest. Got my sticker on the cage, good for 3 years. $75.00. I went to Frank Hawleys Drag Racing School to get mine, but a good friend just got his 2 weeks ago and he had to make 2 moderate passes, lift at the 1/8 mile marker, and then 3 full WOT. It was 1 track official and 2 other licensed drivers (in the 7.50 bracket) Once everybody signs off, you mail the time slips to the NHRA with the form, and the results of your physical. I think because I went for SG/SC and ET brackets is was a total of $60.00 for mine. License good for 2 years.
